Everyday when I go to my computer to serf the web i double click Mozilla Firefox to take me to my homepage, Google. The search engine that is Google has a plain web page with the classic Google logo with each letter in different colors. Under the Google logo there is the search bar where one can serf the web by simply typing what he or she is trying to search for. On the top right of the web page is various links that, if clicked on, can make your search more specific. The links include web, images, maps, news, shopping, mail, and more. If a person wanted to search for just a picture, one could just click on the images link and type in what he or she wanted to find in the search bar and only images would appear. Under the search bar there is a link for one to go to the online Google store where one can purchase Google related merchandise and souvenirs. Below the Google store link, there is another link that connects you to another page giving one more information about the search engine. On the top right hand side of the page gives one links to his/her personal information and settings. The Google main web page may seem plain and simple, but Google is one of the biggest and used search engine in the World Wide Web. Google allows one to search for websites, videos, images, and even news without leaving your seat at home. The search engine allows one to become mobile without getting up from your seat.

I like your descriptions of Google because we don't think about all these details as we're searching for topics for school or just out of boredom. It just comes naturally to use Google to find answers.
I think you meant "surf" instead of "serf."
I agree with Polly—you do a nice job describing something that we are used to just, well, *using* without thinking about it. Nicely done. Capitalize that "i". (Soon you won't have to, when Apple introduces the "i" for the screaming low price of your soul.) This post is, as usual, a bit short—push your subject, and go into *even more* detail! That will really surprise your reader.
I like the idea of how you go into details about google search that we took for granted without knowing to what extends can Google search do. As expected, I do the same thing when I’m surfing on the internet. I search and look randomly the thing that usually isn’t important such as movies, games, or Ebay stuff. I don’t think most people will even bother to click the category which they wanted to search. For example, I noticed that on the upper left corner, there are links that categorizes our preferences for our convenience such as images, maps, news, or mails that are linked separately, and I noticed that most of my friends wouldn’t even bother to click those links, and search it in the search box. Isn’t it more convenient to click at one of those links to get efficient results? For example, if I wanted to search for images, I could just click on the IMAGES link and I will get only images result. Comparing to use the search box, I will get all kinds of things from news about images, shopping images, or even maps that contains the address of the images. Do you see my point? We have been using search engines not only Google, but probably Yahoo for granted. We use it without even looking at the capabilities that it can do.
The second issue that I would like to address is why statistic says that most people use Google. There are lots of search engines exist that is better than Google such as Yahoo, Altavista, MSN, and Live. In my opinion, the answer is once again we took things for granted. I don’t know who start it first, but words spread faster than bullets (I might exaggerate a little bit). People have been spreading words that Google is the best search engines. I assumed that because that’s how I use Google on the first place. All of my friends said to me that Google is the best search engines. Well, I’m not denying that it’s one of the best, but it’s not THE BEST. Yahoo search engine is pretty good. It has nice interface because it has all kinds of information news about sports, finances, jobs, entertainments, etc, compared to Google search engine that only has plain search boxes and several links.
In conclusion, I think we need to re-evaluate ourselves that we can’t be too ignorant in terms of information because until we didn’t realize that, we will not use it to its bet advantage. Searching with one or two keywords into the search box does help, but with billions of pages in results, it can be time consuming just to look at the first 10 pages.
